A financial data MCP server your AI agent can sign in to
Wealthnow's MCP server gives AI agents such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Codex read-only access to the Wealthnow financial data API: market data, fundamentals, SEC filings, congressional trades, 13F and insider data, options flow, macro and private markets. It is a hosted remote server using Streamable HTTP. You connect by signing in with OAuth, so there is no API key to paste, and calls use the same credits and plan as the REST API, which has 370+ REST endpoints across 22 data products.
Connect in one step
| Client | How |
|---|---|
| Claude (web, Desktop, mobile) | Settings, Connectors, Add custom connector, paste https://mcp.wealthnow.io/mcp, then Connect and sign in to Wealthnow. |
| Claude Code | claude mcp add --transport http wealthnow https://mcp.wealthnow.io/mcp, then run /mcp and choose Authenticate. |
| Cursor | Use "Add to Cursor" from your Wealthnow API dashboard and sign in in the browser. |
| ChatGPT | Settings, Apps, Advanced settings, Developer mode, Create; paste the MCP URL above, choose OAuth and sign in. |
| Codex | codex mcp add wealthnow --url https://mcp.wealthnow.io/mcp, then codex mcp login wealthnow. |
| Any other client | Send your wn_ API key in the X-API-Key header (or Authorization: Bearer wn_…). |
Then ask: "Using Wealthnow, which members of Congress disclosed trades in NVDA this year, and which funds added it last quarter?"
# Claude Code on a headless machine (an API key instead of browser sign-in)
claude mcp add --transport http wealthnow https://mcp.wealthnow.io/mcp \
--header "X-API-Key: wn_YOUR_KEY"
What your agent can reach
Tools map one-to-one to the REST API: each MCP tool name is the OpenAPI operationId, with the same parameters. The default list shows the tools your plan includes plus two free helpers, account_status (your plan, remaining credits and entitlements) and search_tools (find tools by topic). Add ?catalog=full to the server URL to list every public tool.
| Plan | Price | Credits / month | Rate limit | Adds |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 1,000 | 30 req/min | Market Data · Fundamentals & Financials · Public Filings |
| Starter | $99/mo | 250,000 | 120 req/min | Congressional / Politician Trades · Equity News & Sentiment + Zacks EPS estimates & surprises · Macro, Rates, FX & Commodities · Quant Signals + real-time SSE streams (quotes · bars · trades) · Funds, Institutional & Insider |
| Pro | $499/mo | 2,000,000 | 600 req/min | Alt-Data · Options Flow & Dealer Positioning · Execution & Research · LLM Research · Risk Analytics · Private Markets · Tape & Intraday History · Credit & Fixed-Income — bond prints, CDS, ratings, loans, CDX/iTraxx indices · Transcripts & Corporate Events |
| Expert | $999/mo | 5,000,000 | 1,200 req/min | Copilot |
| Enterprise | Contact | Custom | Custom | Sales-led |
Each plan includes everything in the plans above it. A tool outside your plan returns a plan_required error naming the plan that unlocks it, rather than failing silently. MCP calls cost the same credits as REST calls. Details: API pricing and credits.
Built for agents
- Read-only by design: every tool carries the MCP annotation
readOnlyHint: true. No tool changes your account or places orders. - Sign-in instead of secrets: OAuth 2.1 with PKCE. Each connected agent gets its own revocable key that the agent never sees, so you can revoke one agent without touching your other keys.
- Stated freshness: quotes say how old they are.
- Stable names: tools renamed in the rebrand still accept their old
tengu_v3_*names. - Streams stay on REST: the server-sent-event streams are REST-only, because MCP cannot relay a stream.
Frequently asked questions
What is a financial data MCP server?
An MCP (Model Context Protocol) server exposes data tools that AI agents can call directly. A financial data MCP server lets an assistant like Claude or ChatGPT fetch quotes, filings or fundamentals itself instead of guessing from training data.
Is the Wealthnow MCP server free?
There is a Free plan with 1,000 credits per month at 30 requests per minute, covering market data, fundamentals & financials, public filings. Congressional, 13F and insider data start on Starter ($99/month).
Can the MCP server place trades?
No. Every tool is read-only (readOnlyHint: true) and no tool places orders or changes your account.
Which AI clients work with it?
Claude (web, Desktop, mobile and Claude Code), Cursor, ChatGPT in developer mode, Codex, and any client that can send an API key header.
Do MCP calls cost more than REST calls?
No. Tool calls use the same credit costs and plan access as the REST API. account_status and search_tools are free to call.
Is there an OpenAPI spec?
Yes: https://firm.wealthnow.io/api/openapi.json. MCP tool names match its operationIds.
